Segment A of Algebra 2 teaches that algebraic representation can be used to generalize patterns and relationships. Linear, quadratic, and exponential relationships are algebraic functions which allow us to organize data and make decisions in our world. Topics covered include: (1) Algebra basics, (2) complex numbers, (3) rational expressions and equations.

Segment B of Algebra 2 teaches that linear, exponential, polynomial, periodic, step and absolute value functions can be represented verbally, numerically, graphically, and analytically to understand patterns and relationships. The characteristics of exponential and logarithmic functions and their representations are useful in solving real-world problems. Topics covered include: (1) exponential functions, (2) logarithms, (3) quadratic equation and conic sections.
